New Dodd-Frank rule threatens major American job-creating industries WASHINGTON, DC—The Hispanic Leadership Fund is urging the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to consider economic growth and international competitiveness when drafting rules and regulations for an important piece of the Dodd-Frank Act. In a letter to the commissioners, HLF President Mario H. López explains:
We believe that the tax burden on American families is too high and that people should be allowed to keep more of the money they earn. Government overspending and massive deficits create pressure to take more money away from American families and lower their standard of living.
Small businesses create two-thirds of all jobs in the United States. The U.S. Census states that Hispanics start small businesses at a rate three times higher than the general population. Economic policies should place a high priority on allowing small businesses to grow and create jobs and opportunities for all.

Education is ultimately not about union bosses, building projects, or other side issues, but rather about improving the lives and opportunities of America’s kids.
In 2010, the average American worker worked every single day from January 1 to August 19 just to pay for their share of federal, state, and local government. That means that for 231 days, or 63% of the year, Americans worked solely for government at all levels and not for themselves and their families.

Our nation has every right to take reasonable steps to protect its borders. Smugglers, traffickers, and violent criminals pose a direct threat and should be the highest priority for our border patrol.
The right to life is the most basic right endowed to us by our Creator. Human life deserves protection from conception until natural death.
