Today Hispanic Leadership Fund President Mario H. Lopez participated in a panel discussion on free market-based immigration reform. The discussion at the ) at the National Press Club also featured Steve Moore from the Wall Street Journal, Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform and HLF Advisory Board Member, Helen Kreible of the Kreible Foundation, Matt Kibbe, President of FreedomWorks, and James Carafano of the Heritage Foundation.
Preceding the discussion was a short film documentary called the Red Card Solution, which was produced by the Kreible Foundation and highlights the negative economic impact of our complex immigration system, and promotes the Red Card Solution as an alternative, market-based temporary worker program.
It should be noted that while the panelists, including Lopez, discussed positive elements of the Red Card Solution and market-based reform in general, that HLF has no official position as of yet on the specific Red Card plan.
