WASHINGTON, D.C.–Hispanic Leadership Fund president, Mario H. Lopez, issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s nomination of Alexander Acosta to be the next Secretary of Labor:
“Alexander Acosta has an outstanding career of serving his country under President George W. Bush’s administration. Mr. Acosta has served on the National Labor Relations Board and has a good understanding about the responsibilities in the Department of Labor.
Mr. Acosta has also been a great defender of crime while serving as the first Hispanic assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice and as the US Attorney for the southern district of Florida. During his time as the dean of Florida International University college of law, FIU has had one the highest bar passing percentages in the state of Florida.
We look forward to hearing his policy plans to grow the economy and help businesses thrive.”
