WASHINGTON, DC – The Hispanic Leadership Fund (HLF), today released a statement from is president Mario H. Lopez on last minute legislation attempting to deal with ‘Surprise Medical Billing’ that is being pushed in the final days of the 116th Congress:
“HLF has repeatedly pointed out that a process that tilts the playing field to favor insurance companies by instituting price controls will inevitably result in decreased patient access to health care. Taking away negotiating power from independent physicians will kill their business and end up hurting all patients, especially patients in underserved communities. This is terrible in general and even worse as we look to finally turn the corner in our fight against COVID-19. Leader McConnell should reject all attempts at price fixing and look for ways to protect and expand access to health care, not allow irreparable damage.”
