Earlier today the Hispanic Leadership Fund was a co-host of a panel on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC titled “The Future of Hispanics and the GOP.”  In addition to HLF President Mario H. Lopez, participants included former Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez, Republican National Committee Co-Chair Jan Larimer (who participated remotely), President of America’s Majority Richard Nadler, and former Virginia Governor and U.S. Senator George Allen.

About 90 activists, community leaders, Congressional staff, and special guests were in attendance.  The discussion was vibrant and open, with folks expressing some frustration with what they perceived is an ongoing lack of commitment by the Republican Party to get their message to Latino voters.  There was widespread agreement as to the need for better communication from Republicans.
