Harry Reid Says One Thing in English, Another in Spanish

It recently came to our attention that Harry Reid was airing commercials with vastly different messages in Spanish and English, bragging that he’ll send U.S. Troops to the border in English ads, while saying he “has always been with us” in Spanish ads. HLF and another group wrote to the Senator this week demanding that he apologize for this dishonest double-talk. In July 2010, Reid launched an ad in Spanish, Mundial, which tells Nevada’s Spanish speakers: “In good times and bad moments, our senator has always been with us.” This ad has strong hopeful language and tone, telling Spanish speakers...

Panel on Arizona’s SB1070 Law

Earlier today the Hispanic Leadership Fund was part of a panel discussion at the Georgetown Law Center discussing Arizona’s SB 1070 law. Along with HLF President Mario H. Lopez was Sen. Jon Kyl (AZ), Arizona State Legislators Kyrsten Sinema and John Kavanaugh, Arizona Sherriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, and leaders of other organizations.

Roll Call Coverage of HLF CPAC Panel

Yesterday, the prominent political paper Roll Call published a piece discussing the “Building the Conservative Hispanic Coalition” panel which featured our President Mario H. Hispanic Leadership Fund at CPAC 2009

This year’s Conservative Political Action Conference just wrapped up, and HLF was proud to participate as an official co-sponsor.  Over 8500 activists, leaders, elected officials, and students participated this year, which organizers said was a record. The Hispanic Leadership Fund’s exhibit hall booth received a lot of traffic and request for information, and we were represented on a panel discussion on “Building the Conservative Hispanic Coalition.”  The panel was scheduled to last about 60 minutes, but thanks to a strong interest in the topic evidenced by a robust Q&A session, and the fact that the there was no panel scheduled...
