Last night international Latin music superstar Daddy Yankee performed for nearly 1,800 people at the Hispanic Leadership Fund’s Fiesta Americana concert in St. Paul, MN to kick-off the week of events and festivities surrounding the Republican Party’s National Convention.
Media coverage included Univision, Telemundo, SiTV, CQ, National Journal, Latina magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Boston Herald, NPR, and Minnesota Star-Tribune.
The Hispanic Leadership Fund partnered with a local Spanish-language radio station to distribute nearly 1,000 tickets free of charge to local youth. Additional tickets were used by convention attendees, delegates, and other special guests.
Daddy Yankee was recently chosen by TIME magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.”
Also present were volunteers from the Red Cross, with whom we partnered with in the 11th hour to focus attention on the potential effects of Hurricane Gustav, which caused varying degrees of damage in the United States, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Cuba.
