WASHINGTON, D.C.–The Hispanic Leadership Fund has released the following statement regarding the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019, immigration legislation scheduled for a floor vote today in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Just like the solid majorities of voters in both parties, the Hispanic Leadership Fund continues to support a legislative fix that will allow Dreamers and TPS recipients to continue their positive contributions to the American economy,” said HLF president Mario H. Lopez. “However, the much bigger issue is that attempts to fix any aspect of immigration policy must be bipartisan in order to be more than empty gestures. And any legislation that does not streamline the senselessly bureaucratic process for legal immigration is destined to be a band-aid at best.”
